WORKSHOPS

Chinese Brush Painting
Fridays for 8 weeks: September 11, 18, 25, October 2, 9, 16, 23, 30
3:00–4:30 p.m.
Join master painter Jim Hardesty for this Museum favorite. All skill levels and ages are welcome.
FEES: $90 Museum Members/$100 nonmembers
MATERIALS: $47 new students/$9 returning students

Introduction to Drawing
Sundays for 3 weeks: October 25, November 1 and 8
1:00–3:00 p.m.
Using work from the Museum’s collection and special exhibitions, artist Lin Price will lead this introductory drawing workshop for ages seventeen and up.
FEES: $40 for Johnson Museum Members/$50 nonmembers, plus a $20 materials fee.

S. P. Rosenbaum, Professor of English, Emeritus, University of Toronto, will provide the keynote address to Saturday’s Bloomsbury symposium with an introduction by Tony Bradshaw, The Bloomsbury Workshop.

THE ATKINSON SYMPOSIUM: BLOOMSBURY

Join us in celebration of the exhibition A Room of Their Own: The Bloomsbury Artists in American Collections, with speakers scheduled to include Peter Stansky of Stanford University, Christopher Reed of The Pennsylvania State University, Mark Hussey of Pace University, Benjamin Harvey of Mississippi State University, Alexandra Gerstein of the Courtauld Institute of Art, Molly Hite of Cornell University, and Wendy Hitchmough, curator of Charleston Farmhouse in Sussex. ART-FULL FAMILY SATURDAY
10:00 a.m.–12:00 noon
Join local favorite singer/songwriter John Simon for old favorites and new songs followed by art-making inspired by the permanent collection. The performance begins at 10:00 a.m. with artmaking to follow at 11:00 a.m.
FEES: Free for Johnson Museum Members/$5 per family for nonmembers. Seating is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Cornell Economics Professor Bob Frank will explore the timely subject of Keynesian economics, in conjunction with the exhibition A Room of Their Own: The Bloomsbury Artists in American Collections.

16 Friday
FOR STUDENTS ONLY: After Hours at the Johnson!
8:00 p.m.–1:00 a.m.
The Museum comes to life after hours with performances by student groups, food, art activities, gallery games, and a movie screening on the mysterious sixth floor. Free and open to all students. Hosted by the Museum Club.

Associate Curator and Master Teacher Andy Weislogel will discuss highlights from our collection of European art, spanning the centuries.

Mrs. McPuppet brings baskets and her well-traveled suitcases full of puppets and costumes for theatrics, music, and fun. The performance begins at 10:00 a.m. with artmaking to follow at 11:00 a.m.

FOR STUDENTS ONLY: Hidden Treasures tour and workshop
2:00–3:30 p.m.
Join the Museum Club on their quest to learn more about the Johnson’s collection. Discover some hidden masterpieces, then try your hand at making art. No particular talents required!

CONCERT
1:30–3:00 p.m.
The Cornell University Klezmer Ensemble, under the direction of Ryan Zawel, will present Yiddish melodies on a variety of instruments. Selections include reimagined old-world transcriptions and a brand-new work by composer Keir Neuringer.

13 Friday
FOR STUDENTS ONLY: African Art and Culture Night
8:00–11:00 p.m.
Celebrate Cornell’s Africana Center with dance, food, and art! Hosted by the Museum Club, in conjunction with the Africana anniversary exhibition. Free and open to all students.
