This exhibition, curated by the History of Art Majors’ Society, focuses on photographs by women from a wide range of periods and places that share the theme of transformation. It consists of works that either reinterpret traditional subject matter by means of unusual perspectives, or show subjects in the act of questioning and challenging their own identities. It will also look at how women photographers have changed their field, and how technical advances have allowed for new photographic visions to emerge. By transforming the usual into the unexpected, the works in this show challenge traditional interpretations and open up new ways of looking at and understanding the world around us.
This exhibition is funded in part by a generous gift from Betsey and Alan Harris.
