Cornell biologist Tom Eisner credits his mother, Margarete Heil, with having inspired his own celebrated photographic work. Heil, a product of 1920s Berlin, created for the enjoyment of family and friends, and her work bears the imprint of the period, and of a life punctuated by multiple forced departures and emigrations. This exhibition features sketches, portraits, and abstract renditions by this remarkable woman, alongside a selection of photographs by Eisner.
