Its Summer 2009 Exhibition Schedule
Ithaca, NY—The Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art at Cornell University announces its exhibition and program schedule for Summer 2009.

The Art of China's Cultural Revolution
June 27-October 11
Paintings, posters, prints, and political buttons related to the Cult of Mao (1966-76) and artists' responses to this tumultuous period in China's recent history. Held in conjunction with the New York Conference on Asian Studies, which will take place at Cornell on October 9-10, 2009.
A Room of Their Own: The Bloomsbury Artists in American Collections
July 18-October 18
The artistic output of the artists in the Bloomsbury group--including paintings, prints, drawings, decorative arts and designs, books from the Hogarth Press, and other works--exemplified the breadth and strength of their complex talents and revealed their responses to war, industry, human sexuality, and the environment.

Joie de vivre: Art Nouveau and Art Deco Ceramics from the Shatzman Collection
July 18-October 25
This collection of ceramics spans the height of the ceramics revival (1890-1940) with superb examples by masters of the period, including Royal Copenhagen, Clément Massier, the Martin Brothers, Théo Perrot, Auguste Delaherche, Paul Dachsel, Pierrefonds, Marcel Chevalier, Michel Cazin, and many others.

Romeyn de Hooghe: Virtuoso Etcher
August 8-October 11
Prints, broadsheets, and illustrated books on both sacred and secular subjects by Romeyn de Hooghe, the endlessly inventive etcher and chronicler of wars, political allegory, religious intrigue, and society in late-seventeenth century Holland.

Mother Mallard's Portable Masterpiece Co., the world's first synthesizer ensemble, will present a concert and host a discussion. Formed in 1969 in Ithaca with the support of the late Robert Moog, inventor of the Moog Synthesizer, the group has evolved from using Moog Synthesizers exclusively into a laptop-based ensemble but still features a Moog Voyager, Bob's last synthesizer design.
The Johnson Museum has a permanent collection of over 30,000 works of art from Africa, Asia, Europe, and North and South America. The museum building was designed by I. M. Pei. Funds for the building were donated by Cornell alumnus Herbert F. Johnson, late president and chairman of S C Johnson. The building opened in 1973.

The Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art, located on the campus of Cornell University, is open Tuesdays to Sundays from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Admission is free.
