Peter Gould Promoted to Deputy Director
Ithaca, NY—The Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art at Cornell University has promoted Peter Gould to the position of deputy director, beginning September 1.
Gould joined the Johnson Museum as associate director and director of finance and administration in 1999. He is responsible for managing the Museum’s financial resources and budget and oversees administrative and maintenance operations. He has also coordinated the planning for the Museum’s upcoming expansion and renovation project.
“This new position acknowledges a role Peter has already held for some time, as a full partner with me in making short-term and long-term decisions regarding the operations and management of the Museum,” said Frank Robinson, the Richard J. Schwartz Director of the Johnson.
Previously, Gould spent over seven years as an internal auditor at the Smithsonian Institution. He began working at Cornell as a senior auditor in 1998.
The Johnson Museum has a permanent collection of over 30,000 works of art from Africa, Asia, Europe, and North and South America. The museum building was designed by I. M. Pei. Funds for the building were donated by Cornell alumnus Herbert F. Johnson, late president and chairman of S C Johnson. The building opened in 1973.
